Left to right - Row 1 - KA8SFL, N8ADN, Joe (ADN's son), N8KXM - Row 2 - KA8ZBW, Bev (ZBW's friend), N7LMJ, KF8KK - Row 3 - N5JFQ, N9AYD, W6KJ & W1CX, K8BSC & WA8BOT - Row 4 - WA5QZI, K8RBM, XE1L, WB8VSU - Row 5 - KS0F, K9XA Our friend and IOOK'er Tom, WA5KUB from Memphis, Tennessee was interviewed again this year by a Dayton television crew. His interview was shown on the noon news. One of the primary items that prompted the interview was Tom's unique Internet streaming video of his trip and the flea market during HamVention. Congratulations Tom! Once the van was "carefully" packed it was time to head to "The Gathering Of The Faithful". Of course, Charlie wanted to document the fact that using a rust spot in the door protected the coax from being squeezed! Once dinner was over it was time for the presentations to begin. This year we instituted a new portion to our Awards Ceremony. This idea was first brought up by "Da Bear" Don, KE8NK, so we have decided to call it "Da Bear's Candle Ceremony". The idea behind the Candle Ceremony is to honor IOOK'ers who have passed away. Since this was the first time, we read a short statements about each of those IOOK'ers. We also plan to have a portion of the web site which will contain those short statements as well as a picture of each one. In this way, we hope to keep their memory strong in our hearts. After Da Bear's Candle Ceremony, the typical fun awards were issued! John, W9KD presented Nolan, KC9EJB with an official IOOK shirt making him an official Vice President! Congratulations Nolan! Below, in the bottom left you see "The Last Seven Standing". Those are the "Die Hards" who were last to give up and head towards home Friday night! John, N5AAA missed the call for the picture shoot "because he was asleep!" Below is a sample of the certificates that were awarded at the "Gathering of The Faithful". The picture of the space shuttle is there to remind us that this is just a hobby and not rocket science. The International Symbol for getting shocked is a reminder that this hobby can be dangerous and you can be electrocuted if you are not careful. Finally, the International Symbol for Restaurant appears four times towards the bottom of the certificate. This is to remind us that according to KB8FJB, "The IOOK travels on it's stomach!"
