At least one of the documents from 1990 have survived. The annual newsletter. Now, this is rather interesting. Obviously, the beer and Beam were taking it's toll as we note this as the 7th annual Gathering - however, according to my calculations, it was actually the 9th! Imagine that - we were already 2 years off! A brain is a terrible thing to waste! Now, notice the remark to Bing (KA8KME)? He was the "king" of finding errors in our annual newsletter. Also, note the QLF Q signal? If you are not familiar with that one it means "Are you sending with your left foot?" or "I am sending with my left foot!". If you are not a CW operator, you would probably never realize that! Har! I believe that WB8NSL won that award that year. Hmm, he still sends with his left foot. I guess he has gotten lots of practice over the years! Didididit Didit!
On April 23rd, 1990 just 4 days before HamVention we lost a true friend of ham radio, an IOOK'er through and through, a valued companion - Dale, WA8EEA. In the picture below, the group at the Gathering is watching a video tribute to Dale. Notice, Hoss is in his "formal" t-shirt attire. The picture of Dale below was taken at Hoss' place in D.C. during one of our outings for the Richmond Frostfest. It really shows Dale in a typical manner with a big smile on his face and a laugh in his heart! Sometime, get Hoss to tell you the story about Dale when the gang was playing the game Pictionary! The following shots were submitted by Bob, N0BIX - 6/23/04 This first batch are from the Thursday dinner at the Toll House Tavern, 4/26/90.
This next set are from Friday, 4/27/90
Thanks N0BIX! These photos were added 8/6/08 - N5MS sent them along. Thanks Mike!
