KF8KK and N8NCO Visit Ohio

4/3/04

On Friday, April 2nd, John, KF8KK and Ed, N8NCO paid a visit to local IOOK'ers on their way home to Empire, Michigan from Phoenix, Arizona.  As you can see in the photos below John and Ed transported 2 triple wall masts from Arizona on the rack and home made front support.  One mast is for the KA8ZBW tower project which will hopefully be completed this spring.  The other mast is for the tower project for the movement of the WI0OK/R antenna to the top of the tower near Empire.  The gang went to the Toll House Tavern and took part in the P.O.E.T.S. Club that meets there every Friday.  After the club meeting the gang ate dinner.  After all, the IOOK does travel on it's stomach!  Just ask Big Al, KB8FJB!  Lou, N8KXM showed up after dinner at the Farley Flophouse.

Lou had found a distributor a while back that makes wrist bands that honor the first responders who perished the in the 911 attacks.  Ed and John lost a close relative in that disaster.  Lou managed to locate wrist bands with his name and memorial on them and presented them to Ed and John.  In addition to the wrist band that Lou wears in memoriam to this fallen firefighter, he also has a picture of him taped inside of his helmet at the firehouse that he wears as part of his daily equipment.  The gang met again Saturday morning for breakfast as Ed and John prepared to head north for their final leg of their journey home.

Again - the IOOK is traveling on its' stomach!  Thanks to John and Ed for making Dayton a part of their trip home!

Think HamVention!
