Northwest Michigan Vice Presidential

Mini Gathering and Conference

posted 8/6/07

On Wednesday, July 25, 2007, IOOK VP Dave, K3CRF arrived at Frankfort Harbor.  He left Key Largo back in April so he could be here for the Conference.  He had a short meeting with Flat President KBob upon his arrival.

KA8SFL and family missed the conference, but instead were doing some brain cell research in Nawlens.

Our first group session was held at Dingy's restaurant in Frankfort.  Dave, K3CRF related the up-to-date results of his research of stray RF on cats and humans regarding hair loss and weight gain.  This top secret research has been conducted on the "Cat's Cradle" since early in 2004.  We have found that meeting in restaurants is a great way for it to look as though we are just eating instead of passing along highly sensitive and top secret research information.  Some sacrifices must be made!

After dinner the attendees were able to inspect the testing conditions aboard the "Cat's Cradle".

Below are the primary participants in the felines portions of Dave's experimentation.  Among the unusual characteristics being exhibited by our feline friends is Missy has had most of her fur turn short making it look like she has a "lion" cut.  Rocky is miserable as he has had excessive weight gain (as many IOOK'ers have also experienced) and he now weighs a bouncing 23 pounds!

Dave has also succumbed to hair loss problems as many IOOK VP's have as well.  Mike, N7LMJ's cat, Scooter, has managed to avoid the worse of the side effects, but his dog, K.C. has hardly any hair left!

ZWJ and CRF went to Sleder's Tavern to inspect the Moose.  It was decided that further investigation would be necessary.  However, a theory that close proximity to gun powder (there is a gun shop across the street) may be contributing to the condition.  More research will be done with a larger inspection team at a later date.

Ted, KD8BXJ and Dottie, KD8BXK are preparing to participate in the study as well.  Ted has plans to greatly increase their exposure to RF in the not too distant future.

The BARF group has been active in the research as well.  NN3V commented that "The research going on here will undoubtedly continue for years!  It is our hope that some antidote to the RF exposure can be found that will greatly reduce or eliminate the hair loss and weight gain experienced by the participants in the experiment".

Some of Dave, K3CRF's studies indicates that many lighthouses seem to emit RF as well.  And for those that do not emit RF the hair loss and weight gain still seems to be prevalent amongst the participants.

Thankfully, not all IOOK'ers have been afflicted.  A top secret meeting amongst many of the researchers assisting with this experiment was held in the guise of this birthday party celebration.  We are still attempting to solve all the world's problems.

John, N5AAA and Jan, KA9VQS came north to participate in the conference arriving on Sunday, July 29th.  They brought to the group study results indicating that the relationship of the IOOK'er to placement on the planet does not seem to have an effect upon the participants.  However, more research is being done with the lighthouse influence.

John, KF8KK has a theory that the effect of rubber ducks can counteract the effects of long term RF exposure.  His continued experimentation and research will take a lot longer to have significant results.

Bob, N0BIX and Jean (nocall) arrived on Wednesday, August 1st.  Bob's theory regarding wild turkey's and their influence upon the effects is worthy of further study.  However, Flat KBob decided that actual experimentation with cooked turkey might be more revealing and satisfying.  Jan, KA9VQS decided that since she was up north, she would conduct a study of "Fudgie" effect upon the research.  Bob and Jean inspect the "Cat's Cradle" and discuss research with K3CRF.

N0BIX reported to the group on his research results concerning the RF exposure factor at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

N0BIX then reported on his findings regarding lighthouses and their influence upon RF exposure.  He included study on the Mackinac Bridge.

After dinner at The Cherry Hut, members of the conference hide the true nature of the trip by discussing all the different places participants had been eating, the weather and whether their lawn had been mowed or not on the IOOK Wednesday night schedule.  Hoss, WA5ZAI, is especially talented in teaching IOOK'ers this double talk method of communication!

Above N0BIXie avoids personal safety by climbing into the paddle boat in an attempt to secure the proper photo angle on the girls as well as the sunset.

Below, is the gang at the Cherry Hut dinner and the snap shot that N0BIX took his life in his own hands to get of the girls on the dock.  We all are looking forward to seeing the movies taken by K3CRF of N0BIX getting out of the paddle boat without further dampening his spirits and clothing.

Further study is done along the National Lakeshore.

Before visiting Fishtown, a short luncheon conference was held at the Early Bird Restaurant.

An extensive investigation is conducted at Leland's Fishtown with mixed results.  KF8KK has been conducting weekly experiments here for years.

Jan, KA9VQS also has a theory regarding the affects of alcohol, especially wine, has upon the participants in the study.  The group was still thinking of eating when they went to the Glen Haven Cannery, but it turned out to be an old boat museum.

Not wanting to leave any path uninvestigated, the group went to the Maritime Museum to research the affects that might have been upon members of the turn of the century life saving service.

The gentleman below lectured to the group and explained how few of the life saving service ever suffered any of the affects of RF exposure.

Boone's Long Lake Inn has an interesting phenomenon occurring.  It seems that RF exposure is causing parts of the wood to fall from these trees shown above.  Since Dave, W8TVC lives only a stone's throw from the restaurant it is believed that the unusual characteristics of the two meter repeater and his HF operation are probably contributory to this display.

On Thursday, August 2nd, Dave, W8TVC, chaired the TOP SECRET meeting held at Boone's Long Lake Inn.  Participants managed to also consume an excellent meal while learning about the most recent research updates.  Tom, K8BTE has been doing research regarding the effects of clock setting in his camera that he theorizes may be linked with time travel.

On Friday, August 3rd, the group revisited the Point Betsie Lighthouse.  The groups agrees that further study of the "lighthouse effect" is warranted.

The group also revisited the Elberta Overlook.  Yet another lighthouse is located on the end of the breakwater there.

After a short luncheon meeting at the Frankfort A&W, the group took the Pierce Stocking Drive.  Zed W. Jay has a theory regarding the "dune" influence upon the "lighthouse effect" as many lighthouses are located near sand.

Below the tree on the left seems to be exposing it's roots due to excessive RF exposure.  All this research is tiring business, so a couple of the participants catch up on some much needed shut eye prior to the dinner meeting

The study group returned to Sleder's Tavern on Saturday, August 4th.  It does appear that the moose is loosing it's hair!

Then the group went east of town to the Music House Museum to collect data regarding RF influence upon the exhibits there.

The tour guide informed us that you could better understand the RF influence upon the composer of the music if you closed your eyes.  ZWJ and CRF took this to heart and tried very hard to investigate this phenomenon.

With all the RF being emitted by electronic devices, visits to local vendors seemed in order.  This was followed by another dinner meeting at Schelde's Restaurant.

After the IOOK nets on Sunday morning, August 5th, the group assembled at the Brookside Inn for further in-depth discussion.  This being the final group session of the conference, a group photo was taken.

Sunday evening the group relaxed with ice cream and toppings at the Farley Flophouse North.

Sadly, no in-depth  conclusions were reached by the study group.  It was agreed, however, that further long term research would be necessary before substantial findings can be forthcoming.

A complete report was sent to IOOK Technology Center Chairman, Charlie, NN3V.

The study group wishes to thank to local chapter of the IOOK for hosting the conference.   Their assistance and continued vigilance regarding this study will be greatly appreciated!
