A New Flat KBob Is Born!

posted 12/3/07

We have been working on a new Flat KBob for over a year now.  Well, this past weekend our goal came to fruition!  The first version is a "Sit Down" version that will sit at the table with us.  Also, in looking to improve the lifetime capabilities of this replica, masonite was used as a backing material rather than cardboard.

Below you will see the four by eight sheet and the prints laid out so we can conserve our usage for future models.  In the next panel the image has been cut out.  In the bottom panel you can see the image that now has it's support system installed on the back and it is sitting in the chair with Dave, W8TVC and Charlie, WB8NSL who assisted in this latest endeavor.

Below you can see KBob has been glued to the image panel.  Then the excess is cut from around the image panel.  Finally Sitting Down Flat KBob is ready for accompanying us to the restaurant.

Below you see the New Sit Down Flat KBob where he was unveiled at the BARF (Benzie Amateur Radio Friends) Breakfast on December 1, 2007!  Mike, N7LMJ, who is responsible for getting the prints made, is happily sitting beside Flat KBob.

Many thanks to Mike/N7LMJ, Dave/W8TVC, Charlie/WB8NSL and Keith/WA8ZWJ for their efforts on this project!
