On Thursday, September 13, 2007 a crew consisting of Jack (No Call); Bill, KA8ZBW; Dave, WB8WIQ; Keith, WA8ZWJ; Mark (No Call) met at Lou, N8KXM's to lower Lou's tower and triband beam in preparation for an upcoming move to a new home out in the country on an acre and a half near Pleasant Hill, Ohio. Jack was the official supervisor for the group making sure that all the ropes and equipment were handled in a proper manner! Because of the fact that all hands were busy during the lowering of the assorted items, no action shots were taken.
Below, top left, Lou, N8KXM is shown getting belted up as he was to be top man! Top right below shows the pulley used for the gin pole rope. Middle left below shows Lou at the top of the tower preparing to lower the triband beam. Middle right below shows Lou having moved down the tower and preparing to remove the top section of tower. Bottom left is a picture of Bill, KA8ZBW after he has used the long drag line to lower the gin pole to the lower level. Bottom right shows Lou in the process of removing bolts so the top section can be removed.

Below top left Supervisor Jack inspects the pulleys and ropes for safety after several uses of the rigging. Top right below shows Lou after he has moved down yet another section of tower and he is nearing roof level. Middle left below shows Bill, Dave and Mark ready to lower the next section of tower. Middle right below shows Lou preparing to lower the gin pole for the next section of tower to be lowered. Bottom left below shows Lou using a section of tower to get down from the roof to the deck after all the sections of tower have been lowered. Bottom right below shows the stack of tower pieces and triband beam placed on the concrete pad beside the house.

Lou is to be commended for his fantastic job in making all the necessary preparations to make this effort go smoothly. All the control cables, coax, extra side arms and antennas had already been removed prior to this combined effort. Thusly, the whole project took just over two hours to complete! Yet another safe tower session by the members of the IOOK! Yee haw!
Current plans are for Lou to erect some temporary antennas for the winter. Next spring he plans to dig a hole and cement the tower base and then re-erect the tower at the new house.
