Just before HamVention, Lou, N8KXM was over at Keith's (WA8ZWJ) place making HamVention preparations. Keith knew that Lou had tentative plans to purchase a screwdriver antenna at HamVention so he gave him an old one that had the brass plug fused to the aluminum tube. ZWJ had spent many hours trying to remove the plug from the tube and had given up a couple of years ago and bought a new one.
Lou took the gift home and within a day's time had managed to cut the end of the aluminum tube off and fix the antenna!
Here are some pictures of Lou's new installation in Lou's own words:.
Pictures 1 & 2 show the switch mounted to the speaker bracket. I might have to refine that position.

In pictures 3,4 & 5 is where I cut a hole and put a rubber plug in the back of the cab so the wires can get into the cab. Picture # 6 is looking down between the cab and the bed showing the wire going into the cab.

You can see in pictures 7 & 8 the wire and coax exiting from the bed through a drain hole, then I got fancy and ran the wires through a channel across the bottom of the truck bed to keep them away from hot exhaust parts and the rotating drive shaft.

Pictures 9 through 12 show the antenna mount and the ground strap.

The next step will be trying to get the automatic controller to work.
73, Lou!
