KBob Does The Emerald Isle

posted 9/19/07

Somehow Randy, AB8CO has all the luck!  This time he managed to happen upon a web site where KBob had stored his most recent photos of a trip to Ireland, The Emerald Isle.  By entering a most secret code, he was able to open and download the following snap shots!

Captions are included below each photo.

KBOB visits the famed Ha'penny bridge in Dublin .  The possibility of a half-cent fare nearly discouraged the crossing.

At Powerscourt Garden in the Wicklow mountains south of Dublin .  A portion of the movie Barry Lyndon was filmed here.

At Powerscourt, KBOB scouts real estate for IOOK headquarters.

An antenna farm would look lovely here in the mountains.

Taking a break near the Atlantic Ocean on Slea Head Drive on the Dingle peninsula.  KBOB reports that the Dingle berry crop was quite pungent this year.

In downtown Galway, researching a solution to an apparently devastating personal problem.

With Oscar Wilde (left) in Galway . A brass replica of KBOB has since been installed.

Overlooking the famed Sky Road in Connemara, with the Atlantic Ocean in the distance.  It's a straight line-of-sight shot to the Outer Banks on 146.415.

A bovine moment near the town of Clifden in Connemara .

In the town of Clifden, KBOB poses by the Marconi Restaurant.  Marconi ran his transatlantic station not far from here.  It was destroyed during the civil war in the 1920's.

Relaxing at the end of the trip with a Guiness at a pub in Clifden.  Local patrons still shake their heads in amazement.

Many thanks to Randy for his clandestine efforts to bring these photos to the eyes of the IOOK!
