WD8JPP's "Bullitt"

posted 11/4/06

Didja ever wonder why Tom, WD8JPP's email address was "ponytom@aol.com"?  Well, it is because in addition to Tom being a "motor head" and Ford lover, he is also Mustang collector!  Recently Tom acquired a collector model "Bullitt" Mustang which he added to his collection.  The "Bullitt" was built to commemorate the well-known movie "Bullitt" that featured a Mustang.   He managed to purchase it "cheap" from a relative in Florida who had not taken the best care of this fine piece of collectable automobile.  The engine had been run a lot short on oil.  ARGH!

In the picture below you can see the old motor laying on it's side with one piston side facing up.  All of the pistons are damaged but, as you can see, one of them is "flat wore out" to quote Tom.  Tom managed to find a suitable replacement engine and has recently gotten it installed and running.

The commemorative "Bullitt" logos are seen both under the hood and on the rear of the car.  The "Bullitt" also sports a unique gas cap cover as well as a kickin' sound system!

Here is a portion of Tom's pole barn automotive workshop that is every garage mechanic's dream - a floor lift!

Most would say "Only in my dreams!"

As was mentioned earlier, Tom does have a Mustang collection.  You can see the other two Mustangs in his collection above.

Tom is mighty proud of his newest addition to his collection and rightfully so!  According to Tom, "The Bullitt is the fastest car I have ever owned!"  Congratulations Tom!  Have fun with your Mustangs!  Hmm, is there a corral around here somewhere?
