Findlay Hamfest 2008

posted 9/9/08

The 2008 Findlay Hamfest occurred on Sunday, September 7, 2008.  The day started off with a bit of rain but by the official opening time the rain had subsided and the sun was trying to pierce through the clouds.  N8DRM, who came out of hiding during HamVention '08 was there with a truck full of flea market goodies.  Of course, WA8ZWJ had a few items to put on the table as well.

Contrary to evidence indicated by his lack of participation on the HF nets as of late, Tom, WD8JPP, alive and well, was there as well and had his booth set up just a couple of spaces down from ours!  We also saw Bob, WD8ROE!

As always our banner received a lot of attention - especially the slogan "Yesterday's Technology...Tomorrow!"

We were also fortunate enough to see Glenn, W8AK and his friends as they were leaving the hamfest!  Farmer Glenn planted some pork rind droppings hoping that a pork rind tree would grow in their place for next year's hamfest!

Of course, no hamfest would be complete without Flat KBob!

Even though the day started off damp, we managed to sell a few items and had a fun time and, as you can see, the sun came out and it was beautiful!  We understand that the attendance was a bit off, but, that is really a no news item, as most of the hamfests these days are not experiencing growth.  We did have a productive day and look forward to doing it again next year!

As for the items that didn't sell, we will take them to Fort Wayne in November.  Now is a good time to start planning for your trip to Fort Wayne for their hamfest.  Hamfest info can be found at http://www.acarts.com/.
