IOOK hits the Dallas HamCom. Here Hoss is giving rookie IOOK'er Al some hamfest trivia.

Hi IOOK. Well, I left the house at 6:30 AM on Friday, picked up Ron, AA5RT, at his QTH and headed for Dallas. After a breakfast at I-Hop we arrived in Plano Center at 10:15 and began the 08 Dallas HamCom.

I ran into John, W5GI, who was running the Flex-Radio booth and later saw Aaron Van Nort and had a chance to visit with him for a bit. We stayed until 5:00 PM for the prized drawing (didn't win!) and then headed for the Motel. By the way, just like Dayton, my ticket was drawn and like Dayton where I won a dual band antenna, I won a Skywarn cap in Dallas! Everyone else got at least a hand held, Har.

After dinner at Cheddars, Ron and I retired for the night and started Saturday with breakfast at Waffle House. We got the Fest at 7:30 and did quite a bit of visiting until the Oklahoma Gang arrived. We all had a delightful visit with them, but unfortunately could not stay to have lunch together and left for home at noon, arriving back a little after 3 PM.

In new toy department. I picked up a grounding strap for HF antenna on the pick up along with some RG-8X coax. I also found some treasures in a dollar bin at the flea market. Ron found a Motorola mike and a power supply and stacking rack for his Motorola repeater assembly, Jim, JCS found a military table(!!) that he had to have, and I know the rest of the gang found some goodies the wanted (or needed?).

I ran into Tom Lewis and he is recovering from his prostrate surgery real well. He told me that the operation went well and the doctor wants to see him in about four months. And he looked great.

I have enclosed a few pics that I took at the Fest and I am sure the rest of the gang have or will send you additional records of the '08 HamCom. 73, Hoss

I noticed that these photos really show the fun IOOK members have and the camaraderie that we share.
